Seven of 16 pro-Russian parties that are currently banned under
Ukrainian legislation are attempting to contest their ban in the Supreme Court
of Ukraine, pro-democracy NGO “Chesno” reported on Aug 6.

These appeals were filed by the following parties: 

     Socialists

     Union of the Left

     Opposition Platform for Life

     Party of Shariy

     Socialist Party of Ukraine

     Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine 

     Happy Ukraine

The Supreme Court has already begun to consider the appeals of the Union of Left Forces and the Socialist Party, with the first hearings in these cases already having occurred.

On March 20, the National Security and Defense Council decided to suspend any activity of political forces associated with Russia during martial law. In particular, the parties Opposition Platform for Life, the Party of Shariy and the Opposition Bloc and Ours were mentioned. On May 3, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament banned the activities of all pro-Russian parties on the territory of Ukraine.
