Plainfield police this week conducted a search of a Wauregan residence where an infant is suspected of being severely injured.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, police were notified by the state Department of Children and Families that a 5-month-old child had been admitted to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.

The report stated the infant suffered from severe injuries believed to have been sustained in the Wauregan village of Plainfield. Plainfield detectives traveled to the hospital and interviewed involved parties throughout the night and early morning, according to a press statement.

After identifying the Wauregan residence in question, police executed a search and seizure warrant with the assistance of the state police’s Eastern District Major Crime Unit. There was no information released on what was found at the residence.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Plainfield Police Department at (860) 564-0804.
