Search for missing teen Kiely Rodni will be ‘more limited’ in coming days, police say

Ex-U.N. prosecutor urges global arrest warrant for Putin

Investigators searching for Kiely Rodni revealed their plans to scale down their search for the missing teen who vanished from a party at a campground in California earlier this month.

Rodni was among “200-300 juveniles and young adults” who attended a huge bash near the Prosser Family Campground, located about 10 miles outside of Truckee. She was last seen alive on Aug. 5 around 12:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Nevada County Sheriff Captain Sam Brown said at a Monday press conference that after an “astronomical” effort, authorities have yet to uncover any evidence that could help them find the missing teen. So far, hundreds of people have dedicated a combined 9,000 man-hours to the search.

“Our biggest problem is where do we go, and how do we keep sustaining this?” he told reporters.

Moving forward, Brown said, authorities’ work will be “more limited” and shift into more of a “background investigative” phase.

“We are still looking for any clues, videos, tips, any information to help us to put pieces together and help us to direct where we’re going and how we’re going to continue to do a search,” he told reporters. “We are moving into a more limited but continuous search and rescue effort.”

Both her SUV and phone are still missing. Authorities have not been able to locate anyone who actually spoke with or saw Rodni in the moments before she left the party.

On Sunday, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced that investigators had uncovered footage of the 16-year-old at the party. In the footage, she is wearing a white hoodie covered in the phrase “odd future” written in block pink letters, though it’s not clear if she was wearing the garment at the time of her disappearance.

Kiely is described as 5-feet-7 and about 118 pounds. She has blond hair, hazel eyes and a nose ring. Anyone with information about the case, particularly those who took photos or video at the campground party, are encouraged to contact law enforcement.
