The Cabinet of Ministers terminated the agreement
between the governments of Ukraine and Russia on scientific, technical and
economic cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, a Ukrainian government
official said on Aug. 27.
Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk said on his Telegram channel that Ukraine would halt cooperation with Russia in the nuclear field.
In particular, the agreement between the government of Ukraine and the government of Russia on scientific, technical and economic cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, which was signed on Jan. 14, 1993 in Moscow, has been terminated.
Earlier, Russia blocked a key UN document on nuclear weapons, the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, over the issue of control over Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, which Russia currently occupies.
