Buffalo Bills Fans React to Feet of Snow in Stadium: ‘Let the Boys Play’

Buffalo Bills Stadium Covered in Snow

Buffalo Bills fans took to Twitter on Friday to react to a hefty pileup of snow in their home stadium as inclement weather forced the team to relocate a fast-approaching game on its schedule.

The Bills were set to play the Cleveland Browns at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, on Sunday, however the game was moved to Ford Field in Detroit. Additionally, the Bills announced that a practice that was scheduled for Friday had been canceled in light of the weather, and that the team’s players would instead meet with coaches virtually.

Parts of Western New York, including Buffalo, were hit with severe weather on Friday after the National Weather Service (NWS) predicted earlier in the week that an incoming lake-effect storm could bring “paralyzing snowfall.” Drone footage shared by The Weather Channel showed an eerie wall of snowfall, sometimes peppered with bursts of lightning, enveloping Buffalo.

The Bills’ home stadium was not immune from the heavy snowfall, according to photos shared by the team’s official Twitter account on Friday. In the images, Highmark Stadium’s field was completely blanketed in snow and its seats were almost completely obscured as well.

Some Twitter users seemed to suggest that the Bills should be allowed to compete on their home turf in spite of the weather.

“Let the boys play,” one user, @13SecondsPain, tweeted in response to the Bills’ post showing the snow-blanketed stadium.

Another user, sports talk show host @LeeGenier, tweeted in response to a video of the snowy stadium shared by the Bills that he would have like to see the game played in Buffalo.

Meanwhile, other Twitter users expressed concern about whether the Bills would even be able to make it to Detroit for their relocated game.

“The Bills are going to get stuck in Buffalo aren’t they?” sports producer Nick Jacobs tweeted Friday.
