London pet breaks record as world’s oldest cat

Flossie is the world's oldest living cat

A pet in London has set a new record as the world’s oldest living cat.

Flossie is the world’s oldest living cat

The 26-year-old feline, called Flossie, has been confirmed as the oldest cat by Guinness World Records and has a human equivalent age of 120 years old.

Flossie’s owner Vicki Green described her as an “amazing cat” who has settled in well after being rehomed by Cats Protection.

Green says that the moggy is deaf and has failing eyesight but continues to be affectionate and playful.

She said: “I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat.

“But I didn’t imagine I’d share my home with a Guinness World Records title holder.

“She’s so affectionate and playful, especially sweet when you remember how old she is.”

Green added: “She’s deaf and with failing eyesight but none of that seems to bother her. She’s completely with it, loves affection and has a very good appetite. She never turns her nose up at the chance of a good meal, except when she’s s snuggled on her favourite yellow blanket.”
