The most recent International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA) inspection of Ukrainian nuclear facilities found no trace of
military equipment being stored at the sites or in their vicinity, IAEA head
Rafael Grossi told the European Parliament on Jan. 24.

Grossi added that IAEA inspectors provide constant monitoring of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants – including the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), currently occupied by Russian troops.

“The result of these inspections was negative,” Grossi commented on investigating Russian claims about Ukraine hiding military equipment around its nuclear facilities.

The official noted that IAEA has once again disproven Moscow’s claims about the “development of a dirty bomb at Ukrainian NPPs.”

On Dec. 22, 2022, Grossi announced resumed negotiations with Russia on establishing a demilitarized safety zone around the occupied ZNPP.
