Latvia has warned the Russian ambassador that he must leave the country by Feb. 24 following Riga’s decision to lower the level of its diplomatic relations with Russia, Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Jan. 23.

“The Ambassador of Russia shall leave Latvia by Feb. 24, 2023,” the report says.“

Likewise, the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Russia is leaving Russia by Feb. 24.”

Earlier, Moscow decided to reduce its diplomatic presence in Estonia to the level of chargé d’affaires and expelled the Estonian ambassador due to accusations of “Russophobia.”

In response, Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a mirror step.

In addition, Latvian Interior Minister Māris Kučinskis said that Latvia would no longer allow Russians fleeing mobilization to enter the country.
