All legal preparations
have been made for the construction of a Bayraktar drone manufacturing plant in
Ukraine, and the design of the future enterprise has been completed, Ukrainian Ambassador
to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar has said.

Bodnar said an international legal agreement on the new drone factory had been ratified, and building of the plant could now start, Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported on Jan. 24.

“We expect the plant to start operating within the next two years, when it will begin to manufacture products with Ukrainian components,” the diplomat said.

He added that in recent days the Kizilelma combat UAV, which was developed by Turkish drone maker Baykar Defense and which has a Ukrainian engine, successfully passed its second flight test.

“This is evidence of how closely we are cooperating and bringing concrete results, in particular, I hope, for the future strengthening of Ukraine’s security,” the ambassador said.

Baykar Defense plans to complete the construction of the plant to produce the Bayraktar TB2 and other types of drones in Ukraine within two years.
