Grain deal extended for another 120 days / The New Voice of Ukraine

Kubrakov said the extension of the agreement by four months was achieved through the collaborative efforts of Ukraine, Turkey, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and other partner countries.

“This means that Ukraine continues to export its agricultural products through three deep sea ports,” he said.

“In particular, from Aug. 1 until today, we dispatched 25 million tons to meet the needs of the world,” said the Ukrainian minister.

He emphasized that currently the main challenge is to speed up inspection checks in Turkey, which will allow the world to get even more Ukrainian agricultural products.

“We’re also continuing work on joining the Mykolaiv Oblast ports to the grain initiative and expanding the cargo nomenclature,” Kubrakov said, adding that “the possibility to export more will allow to remove inflationary risks, and as a result, social tension in many countries of the world.”

Turkish President Recep Erdogan also confirmed the continuation of the grain agreement, Turkish publication AA reported on March 18.

Previously, Russia declared that the extension of the grain agreement could only be granted for 60 days, and that their position on the matter would depend on the actual progress made towards normalizing Russian agricultural exports.
