Two buses crashed into each other on the
morning of March 18 in the village of Tovmachyk, located in Kolomyya District
of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, resulting in one fatality and 24 injuries, local police reported on Facebook on March 18.

The accident happened at approximately 7.00 a.m. on the T-09−05 highway when the 56-year-old driver of an Etalon bus, traveling on the Kolomyia-Mukachevo route, veered into the opposing traffic lane and collided with the Volkswagen LT bus, which was running on the Lanchyn-Kolomyia route, according to the police investigation.

As a result of the collision, one passenger of the Volkswagen LT died on the spot.

The 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen LT and 23 passengers from both vehicles sustained various injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment. They are being provided with the necessary medical care.

The police checked the driver of Etalon for intoxication. It was established that he was sober at the wheel.

The event was qualified under Part 2 of Art. 286 (violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Police officers continue to work at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Rescuers were also working at the scene of the accident to eliminate its consequences, according to the State Emergency Service.
