Police investigate double homicide in Northeast Albuquerque

South Park man sentenced on sexual abuse conviction

Aug. 28—The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a late Tuesday double homicide in the East Central corridor — the fifth and sixth killings since Sunday in Albuquerque.

Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a shooting in the area of Parsifal and Chico NE, near Central.

APD spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said when officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. One died at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Homicide detectives are investigating, Gallegos said.

The two fatal shootings come on the heels of a violent Sunday morning when police responded to three homicides in the Downtown area in a one-hour span.

Then, early Tuesday morning, officers received a call about a Northeast Albuquerque resident who was fatally shot while apparently trying to stop thieves from breaking into his pickup truck.

Gallegos said the man in Tuesday morning’s killing has been identified, but APD is not releasing the name until his family has been notified.

Gallegos gave no information on possible suspects.
