WEST PALM BEACH — A 65-year-old man pushing a wheelchair across Australian Avenue was struck and killed early Saturday by a tractor-trailer, city police said Sunday.
The man, whose name was not disclosed pending notification of next of kin, was walking from east to west across Australian south of the Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard intersection just before 5 a.m. Saturday, West Palm Beach Police said.
At that time, a 2022 Kenilworth tractor-trailer driven by a 62-year-old Palm Beach Gardens woman was heading north. The driver had the green light as the man pushing the wheelchair entered her path and was struck, police said.
Police and fire-rescue workers responded to the scene after a 911 call and rushed the man to the hospital, where he died just after 8 a.m., police said.
No charges are pending, police said.
