The National Weather Service is predicting the Louisville area could see between 6-10 inches of snow as Kentucky’s first “significant winter storm” is expected Sunday morning into Monday.
In its Saturday morning update, the NWS said the winter storm warning continues to be in effect for southern Indiana and parts of Kentucky with a mix of significant “wintry precipitation” including snow, sleet and freezing rain. The weather system is expected to begin Sunday morning and throughout the day, snow and other conditions will impact areas north of Interstate 64 and into southern Indiana, with possible ice along and north of the Western Kentucky and Bluegrass Parkways.
The Saturday morning update included a map with expected snowfall accumulations that puts Louisville in the area expected to receive between 6-10 inches.
