Drew Barrymore is no stranger to the spotlight, but these days, she’s shining inward — reflecting on the tougher chapters of her life.
“I think I’m finally getting to a place where I can look back more,” Barrymore shared on a Tuesday episode of the “Drew Barrymore Show.”
The actor, who’s been in the public eye since starring in a commercial at 11 months old, reflected on her childhood in Hollywood — a time marked by more motion than mindfulness.
“Since I was a kid, I’ve just been running, and I never stopped running,” she said. “And we’re all go, go, go, we’re all working so hard to figure things out, grow, live life.”

Barrymore then opened up about the relentless pressure to get everything done and be everything to everyone.
“Sometimes the permission, just the word permission, to slow down is something, since childhood, I have not really understood,” she said tearfully.
Barrymore shared the moment of reflection alongside friend and fellow actor Valerie Bertinelli, who praised Barrymore for finally giving herself space to pause and reflect — not to retreat, but to process.
