Ananda Lewis, MTV VJ And Talk Show Host, Dies At 52

Talk show host Ananda Lewis has died at age 52.

The former MTV video jockey’s sister Lakshmi shared the news of Lewis’ death Wednesday in a Facebook post.

“She’s free, and in His heavenly arms,” she wrote alongside multiple broken heart emojis and a photo of her sister. “Lord, rest her soul [prayer emoji].”

Facebook users shared their sadness over Lewis’ death.

“I have always loved your sister’s beautiful smile. Her legacy will live on. My deepest condolences,” one person wrote.

Another added, “My heartfelt condolences for you and your family. Prayers and blessings.”

Lewis’ cause of death has not yet been released.

She was known for hosting shows like “Total Request Live” and “Hot Zone” after she was hired as one of MTV’s VJs in 1997. She also hosted her own talk show, “The Ananda Lewis Show,” from 2001 to 2002.

In 2020, Lewis revealed in an Instagram post that she had been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Last fall, she confirmed that the cancer had returned and metastasized.
