Hyundai again teases Ioniq 6 N ahead of its Goodwood unveiling

Hyundai confirmed the impending debut of its new Ioniq 6 N with a short video teaser. The sleek electric sedan will have its global reveal at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, promising to build upon the surprising success of its sibling, the Ioniq 5 N crossover.

Hyundai’s N performance division has been methodically building its reputation for many years, and the Ioniq 6 N represents the next logical step in its evolution. The car’s lineage is clear, tracing back to the striking RN22e concept vehicle from 2022. That early prototype hinted at Hyundai’s ambitions, and after numerous sightings of camouflaged test cars over the last couple of years, the production model is finally ready for the stage.

Visually, the Ioniq 6 N takes the unique “streamliner” silhouette of the standard Ioniq 6 and injects it with a dose of motorsport-inspired aggression. Finished in the N brand’s signature Performance Blue with characteristic red accents, the sedan features wider fenders to accommodate a broader track and lightweight alloy wheels shod in high-performance tires. The most telling addition is a prominent swan-neck rear wing, which works in tandem with the car’s existing ducktail spoiler and more aggressive track-focused bumper inserts.

Hyundai has been hard at work differentiating the sedan from the Ioniq 5 N, with which it shares its platform. Capitalizing on the Ioniq 6’s naturally lower center of gravity and more aerodynamic profile, the company has implemented a “fully redesigned suspension geometry.” This includes a lowered roll center and a longer caster trail, changes aimed at providing more precise steering feedback and improved stability. New electronically controlled stroke-sensing dampers have also been added to better manage the vehicle’s body movements and maximize grip.

All these mechanical changes are complemented by a suite of enhanced electronic driver aids designed to make this electric car feel anything but synthetic. The N e-Shift and N Active Sound+ systems, which simulate the experience of a traditional dual-clutch transmission, have been refined. Now available across all driving modes, the system features closer-ratio virtual gears and is complemented by an “N Ambient Shift Light” that visually cues the driver for optimal “shift” points.
