State troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident at 3:56 a.m. Aug. 17 on the New Jersey Turnpike south outer roadway, milepost 84.6, said New Jersey State Staff Sgt. Charles Marchan on Sunday.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a GMC cargo van was traveling south on the outer roadway when a 39-year-old man from Bristol, Pennsylvania, operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle, struck the GMC in the rear, Marchan said.

“As a result of the crash, the driver of the motorcycle was ejected and sustained fatal injuries,” he said.

Identification of the deceased is pending next of kin notification.

The accident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time, Marchan said.
