‘Superman’ Star Terence Stamp Dead At 87

“Superman” actor Terence Stamp died Sunday morning. He was 87.

The English actor’s family confirmed the news of his death in a statement to Reuters on Sunday.

“He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,” his family told the outlet. “We ask for privacy at this sad time.”

Reps for Stamp didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

The British star famously portrayed Superman’s nemesis, villain General Zod, in 1978’s “Superman” and 1980’s “Superman II.” Stamp also notably starred in 1962’s “Billy Budd,” 1987’s “Wall Street,” 1994’s “The Adventures of Priscilla,” and 2003’s “The Haunted Mansion.”

Stamps’ fans mourned his death on X, formerly Twitter.
