The wrestling legend passed away last month aged 71 and his wife Sky Daly has now confirmed his phrenic nerve – which helps the diaphragm contract and expand to allow lungs to inhale and exhale air – was “compromised” during a recent surgery.
She also told TMZ Sports an autopsy has been carried out but she declined to reveal its results, and confirmed Hulk’s body has not yet been cremated.
The Clearwater PD police report regarding the 911 response is said to be “on lockdown” but sources told the outlet an occupational therapist was present at Hulk’s home when he stopped breathing, and told responding officers he had been the victim of medical malpractice because his phrenic nerve had been “severed” during a recent operation.
Insiders also said there were conversations amongst officers at the scene where they discussed the therapist’s comments, which were recorded on body cam.
Police confirmed their investigation into the Suburban Commando star’s death is still ongoing.
They said: “We have been in communication with family members — including his son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke. The unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that. All of this takes time.”
