During the team’s third straight loss to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, in what turned out to be a brutal 11-run blowout, Yankee Stadium fans took out their frustration on franchise shortstop Anthony Volpe after he committed a Major League Baseball-leading 17th error and saw his batting average drop to .208.

When asked about the potential for benching Volpe with Caballero now on the roster before Saturday’s game, manager Aaron Boone indicated that such a move could come in the near future.
“Especially now with Caballero, I gave (Volpe a day off) the other day, so those can be in play here,” Boone said, per SNY.
Boone fell short of acknowledging that Volpe is in any serious danger of losing his starting role with the team amid his struggles.
