“The Truth About Jussie Smollett?” is one of the top movies on Netflix right now, according to the platform’s public ranking system.
The documentary, which premiered Aug. 22, sees the former “Empire” star speak out about his 2019 attack for the first time in years, once again addressing whether the controversial incident was an alleged hate crime or a hoax, as many believed.
Directed by Gagan Rehill, the Netflix doc features never-before-seen footage and new interviews with key players in Smollett’s complicated case, including brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who famously claimed they were hired to attack the actor.

Also in the cast are Steve Zahn, Randall Park, Andy Garcia, Karl Glusman, Jermaine Fowler, Mike O’Malley, Elle Graham and Marshawn Lynch.
“The Map That Leads to You” is the No. 1 movie on Prime Video right now. Based on J.P. Monninger’s novel of the same name, the romantic drama follows the unexpected turn of a young woman’s European travels when a chance encounter unearths new possibilities and a deep, emotional discovery.
The film stars Madelyn Cline, KJ Apa, Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Josh Lucas and Orlando Norman.
“Peripheral” is a new original movie trending on BET+’s Prime Video channel. The psychological sci-fi thriller, directed by Sulayman Tahir, centers on a woman (Andria Langston) who, after moving to a new neighborhood, begins experiencing strange paranormal events when her husband (Patrick Walker) vanishes under mysterious circumstances and returns just as oddly.
