An unknown man came to the apartment of The Kyiv Independent’s executive director, Daryna Shevchenko, photographing doors and collecting information about her.

He tried to question neighbours, who quickly became suspicious of him. He showed them a photo of Daryna. For some reason, he photographed the entrance doors and the common doors on the floor.
The man was brought into the building by employees of the local housing maintenance office. The employees said that he showed some kind of ID but would not say what exactly. They are clearly frightened. The police will question them further.”
Details: Rudenko said that Shevchenko had filed a police report about harassment.
She added: “Daryna has no personal conflicts or cases that this incident could be related to. The only theory is that it is connected to her work as executive director of The Kyiv Independent and our journalistic work. Such information gathering could be part of a pre-trial investigation, or simply a form of pressure.”
