The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a battle of 3-0 teams in Week 4. Despite the fact that the Buccaneers will be without star receiver Mike Evans, the team will be getting back fellow star Chris Godwin.
Godwin hasn’t played for the Buccaneers since Week 7 of the 2024 season, when he suffered what appeared at the time to be a career-altering dislocated ankle injury that has required multiple surgeries to recover from.
Naturally, there are some question marks as to how Godwin will look coming back from such a serious injury and whether he will still have the same explosiveness that made him such a great receiver throughout the course of his career.

But in a message to the Players Tribune on Sunday ahead of his season debut, Godwin made it clear that he is incredibly eager to prove that he can still be an incredibly impactful player in 2025.
“Feels like I’ve been waiting a long time to get back out on the field,” wrote Godwin. “I’m grateful for my renewed perspective on this game I love. I’m beyond ready. I don’t know how you feel, Tampa, but I feel like I got a lot in me. Like I got it all to give. And I’m a little mad, you know? Like I don’t think people have seen the real us quite yet. I can’t wait to show them.”

Godwin has certainly given the Eagles fits in the past, playing a key role in the Buccaneers’ upset of the Eagles in the 2023 playoffs. So if Godwin is up to speed and does look like the same player he has been throughout his career, he could very well be an X-factor in Sunday’s game that could help the Buccaneers continue their hot start to the 2025 season.
