Politics infiltrates Packers pregame, with Eric Hovde tailgating, a Trump inflatable, a Harris banner in the sky

GREEN BAY — A van emblazoned with “Hovde: Time for Change” parked across Lambeau Field hinted that Wisconsin’s Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Eric Hovde was in town.

The Hovde campaign press secretary Zachary Bannon confirmed that Hovde tailgated at Lambeau Field with Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, and Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso before cheering on the Packers against the Detroit Lions.

Hovde’s arrival in Titletown came after a six-day bus tour across Wisconsin and followed the barnstorms through Green Bay by Vice President Kamala Harris, former president Donald Trump, and their surrogates in the final stretch to Election Day to get in the last word. He loves the Lions, he loves the Packers, he loves Michigan.” It was a message that Nehls, a native-Wisconsinite, has tried to convince Green Bay voters of since September’s Team Trump Bus Tour rolled through town.

“He’s a ******* felon!” the neighbor at 910 Stadium Drive yelled across the fence holding a spatula he used to serve burgers to several guests sitting under a tent in the backyard.

It started a heated exchange. The rain fell harder, the tent roof leaned right in the wind, the neighbors came face-to-face over the fence.

The encounter ended with the neighbor going inside, the tailgaters eating their burgers telling the Press-Gazette that they weren’t fazed by the inflatable and just wanted to remain neutral, and Nehls saying to the Press-Gazette, “I feel I’m out here doing what I need to do for this election.”

A cable holding the inflatable upright snapped. The Trump inflatable fell…
