The ‘Home Alone’ star and his partner Brenda Song only tuned in to watch the first prize being given out at the Academy Awards on Sunday (02.03.25) but he couldn’t be prouder of his younger sibling, who took the Best Supporting Actor accolade for his work on ‘A Real Pain’.
Speaking to Tan France on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, Macaulay said when asked if he’d watched the show: “Just the Best Supporting Actor.
“That’s the only thing I watched. True story, true story… I cried. And I was like, ‘I’m gonna see you later.’ ”
But Macaulay, 44, and 36-year-old Brenda weren’t surprised to see Kieran take the award.
Asked if they expected him to win, Brenda said: “Of course. Let’s be real. We’re allowed to say that.”
Her partner agreed: “Yeah, absolutely. He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win.”
During his acceptance speech, 42-year-old Kieran caused a stir when he reminded wife Jazz Charlton – with whom he has children Kinsey, five, and Wilder, three – about her promise to expand their family if he ever won an Oscar.
Referencing his previous comments at the Emmy Awards, the ‘Succession’ actor said: “I have to thank my wife Jazz for absolutely everything, for giing me my favourite people in the world…Please don’t play the music because I want to tell a quick story about Jazz.
