One man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the robbery and killing of a 70-year-old man on Indianapolis’ northwest side in April, according to investigators.
Joshua Dye, 30, was charged with robbery and felony murder in connection with the death of Jesus Mazariegos.
Originally from Guatemala, Mazariegos spent 20 years in Indianapolis. He was trying to escape poverty and follow his American dream, said his son Jésus Alberto Chan.
Dye was also arrested for the robbery of a separate victim that occurred on the same day, about one half mile from where Mazariegos was robbed, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Both robberies occurred on April 25. Officers found Mazariegos lying on the ground, possibly having a seizure, after they were dispatched to the 4400 block of North Mission Drive on a report of a person down.
He was verbally unresponsive but awake and transferred to a hospital in serious condition. Mazariegos died as a result of his injuries on April 29.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office determined Mazariegos’ possible cause of death was physical assault resulting in blunt force injuries.
The second robbery Dye is charged in occurred in the 4000 block of North High School Road, according to investigators.
