Three-quarters of the residents of Donetsk Oblast have already evacuated from the war-torn region, head of Donetsk regional military administration Pavlo Kyrylenko said on Ukrainian national television on Aug. 15.

“Most residents of the region have been evacuated, that’s almost three-quarters of the population,” Kyrylenko said.

“A quarter of the population remains, but the evacuation continues after the government decree of Aug. 2. Since the (introduction of) mandatory evacuation, as of today, 5,575 people have already been evacuated.”

The Cabinet of Ministers created a coordination headquarters that will take care of the evacuation from Donetsk Oblast on July 29.

During the first week of mandatory evacuation, more than 2,000 residents of the region, including women, children, the elderly and people with reduced mobility, were evacuated from Donetsk Oblast.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on all residents of Donetsk Oblast to evacuate to other parts of the country.
