Details: Vereshchuk explained that the situation around the largest nuclear power plant in Europe remains tense due to constant shelling by the Russian army. On 5 September, shelling provoked a fire and the disconnection of its last power unit from the network.

Civilians from the surrounding settlements want to be evacuated as soon as possible, Vereshchuk said.

She stated that Russia officially refuses to provide humanitarian corridors. However, Ukraine will not stop trying to help its citizens leave for safe places, Vereshchuk stressed.

Quote: “People are turning to us en masse for help; they are trying to leave this dangerous territory. We once again appeal to the Russian Federation with the demand to provide us with a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of women, children, and the elderly!”
