Financial advisor Martin Lewis scooped the first Expert gong at the 2022 National Television Awards as the cost of living crisis intensifies.
He said he didn’t expect to win as one of his fellow nominees in the new category was Sir David Attenborough, along with Jay Blades and Kaleb Cooper.
The finance journalist turned Moneysupermarket.com founder told the crowd at London’s Wembley Area on Thursday (13.10.22) when picking up his trophy: “When you’re up against a treasure like David Attenborough, you don’t expect to win. Whoever said we’ve had enough of experts, we haven’t. We need them more than ever.

“I want to say thank you to Jed Mercurio (show writer) and to our wonderful directors and everyone who worked on this.”
Thanking his wife Hannah Summers and executive producer Sarah James for his win, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Anton said when picking up his award: “Thank you to everyone who voted, who’s watching the show. Thank you to my wife.
“Sarah James… let me tell you about Sarah James. I love this woman, she’s the great thing to happen to television, thank you for giving me the job. That’s why I love her, I won’t deny. Thank you so much.”
Members of the England lionesses football squad presented ‘Peaky Blinders’ with Returning Drama, with show creator and screenwriter Steven Knight saying in his acceptance speech about plans to turn it into a film: “Thank you to all our fans.
