Hong Kong’s Hostage Pensions - WSJ

Hong Kong claims that, even under Chinese Communist control, the territory honors property rights and the rule of law. Tell that to Hong Kong residents using their special British passports who are being denied access to their pension assets.

In 2020 Beijing imposed a national-security law on Hong Kong in violation of its 1984 treaty with Britain that turned over control of its then colony to China in 1997. The U.K. responded by offering a path to citizenship for Hong Kongers who hold British National (Overseas), or BNO, passports, as well as their family members.
