The 32-year-old model, actress and author – who has been accused of preaching about feminism and empowerment while flaunting her body in modelling shoots and social media posts – says she also battles criticism from a harsh “internal voice”.

She made the admission while chatting to Glamour in a video question-and-answer session, and said when asked to describe her approach to “self-love”: “

“My relationship to self-love is a complicated one. I think it’s a journey and I think that there’s an internal voice you have to constantly encourage in a way that it’s a lot of work, and it doesn’t always come.”

When asked how she practices self-love, mum-of-one Emily went on: “I think I’ve gotten better at catching myself when I have this sort of opposite voice…and realising that I’m talking down on myself.

“I think it’s also sort of like a philosophy. You need to have a wider macro philosophy around finding joy in your life and realising that you are you, and this is the one life you have.

“So to realise that kind of enjoying that life that’s given to you means that you have to like yourself and be nice to yourself.”

In a separate chat for the magazine edition of Glamour, Emily told how she has changed her mind about a form of feminism used to justify women flaunting their bodies.

She said: “I (now) don’t agree with choice feminism. When I was in my early-20s that’s something I talked about, but that’s also what I correct in the book… God, I was saying that because I wanted to protect myself and believe something, because the alternative was too terrifying and too depressing.

“And even the story I told myself or talked about with ‘Blurred Lines’, this kind of ‘Well, it was fun and it was empowering’, there were moments like that, yes. “But there were moments on set that were so clear about who was in power.”

Emily was referring to her claim in her book ‘My Body’ that singer Robin, 46, allegedly molested her by groping her naked chest on the ‘Blurred Lines’ set in 2013 in front of the crew and its female director.

Robin, whose career has floundered after the row over the video, has never commented on the allegation and Emily is still to hear from him.
