South Park man sentenced on sexual abuse conviction

Newly released videos captured the moments a convicted Miami-Dade sex offender prowled through a Home Depot to stalk a 10-year-old girl shopping with her mother last month, police said.

Kevin Hurley, a 60-year-old homeless man, was arrested July 23 on a charge of aggravated stalking of a minor. He was on probation when the arrest was made for a different case in which he served prison time for involving the molestation of a child.

Surveillance videos released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office showed what occurred on Independence Day at the Home Depot, 19400 SW 106th Ave.

Hurley is seen talking to the 10-year-old girl, who is blurred, while he checks out.

According to an arrest report, he said: “I love your Mickey ears, and I think you are too big to be in that shopping cart.”

The report states the young girl became uncomfortable and took off her ears.

In the video, Hurley is seen walking away after paying and going deeper into the store. A few minutes later, he resurfaces, circling the check-out area, where the young girl and her mother are still checking out.

He paced aisles, pretended to look at items to buy, and even tried re-entering the check out area to get to the girl. He eventually left.

According to the report, the girl’s mother knew Hurley was prowling and asked an employee to walk her to her car. In the parking lot, Hurley followed them in his car until a good Samaritan confronted him and he sped off.

Police later caught him, and as of Thursday, he remains in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
