Any chance of the Las Vegas Aces making a third trip to the WNBA Finals are down the drain after the New York Liberty beat them 76-62 in the fourth game of the WNBA Semifinals.

What makes this particularly surprising is that the Aces have center A’ja Wilson, who is the current WNBA Most Valuable Player.

This has been a historic season for Wilson, who averaged 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals this season. Additionally, she set the record for most points per game and most total rebounds in a season with 451.

Wilson has earned numerous accolades across her career. She is a three-time WNBA MVP (2020, 2022, 2024), a two-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year (2022, 2023), a two-time WNBA Champion (2022, 2023), a six-time WNBA All-Star (2018, 2019, 2021-2024), and the WNBA Rookie of the Year (2018).

Wilson had an excellent game per usual, recording 19 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist.

Additionally, guards Kelsey Plum and Tiffany Hayes also had good showings. Plum recorded 17 points, two rebounds, and an assist while Hayes had 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

However, it wasn’t enough to beat the Liberty, who finished with the best record in the league.

Point guard Sabrina Ionescu proved why she was the first overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by earning 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Meanwhile, forward Breanna Stewart recorded a double-double, with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists.

Guards Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich were also major contributors. Jones had 14 points and six rebounds while Fiebich recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

This marks a redemption for the Liberty, who made it to the WNBA Finals last season but lost to the Aces. Additionally
