The Buffalo Bills traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, adding a much-needed threat in the passing game for the Bills offense. The Bills acquired Cooper and a sixth-round pick and the Browns received a third-and seventh-round pick.

The trade brings Cooper from a 1-5 Browns team with a maligned quarterback situation to a Bills squad that has made the playoffs each of the last five seasons.
Cooper shared his immediate reaction to the trade to The Athletic’s Josina Anderson.

“(General manager) Andrew Berry called me and told me what was going on,” Cooper told Anderson. “As far as playing with Josh (Allen) I’ve always been fan of his game. I’m sure to see it up close and personal and play alongside him, I’m sure it’s going to be great. I’ve been in this situation before, so that helps. I’m just excited to turn a new chapter and to be able to contribute.”
With the absence of Khalil Shakir in the Bills’ Week 5 loss to the Houston Texans, it became ever more apparent that Buffalo was in need of another top receiver. There were multiple times when Allen targeted Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, or Keon Coleman, but they could not come up with the catch or make the play needed.
