Alec Baldwin Plays Bret Baier In ‘SNL’ Spoof Of Harris Interview

Bowen Yang Spills On Why 'Saturday Night Live' Is The 'Cringiest' Job

Like the real interview, Maya Rudolph’s version of the VP verbally sparred with Alec Baldwin’s Baier as he dropped a series of gotcha questions for the Democratic presidential nominee.

“When I interviewed President Trump, my first question was, ‘What do you think is the most important issue facing our nation?’” Baldwin asked. “So my first question for you is, ‘Give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country.’”

While Baldwin’s Baier barely let Rudolph’s Harris get a word in edgewise, she was quick to remind him of her record on crime.

“I brought down the Sinaloa cartel. I brought down the Guadalajara cartel,” Rudolph said. “If I was in ‘Breaking Bad,’ it would have ended in three episodes.”

When Baldwin accused Rudolph of only being on the show for a soundbite, she clapped back.

“Oh, please, I am not looking for a viral moment,” Rudolph’s Harris replied before turning to the camera and borrowing a line plucked straight from a popular meme.

“See how I don’t let a man interrupt my answers,” she said, flipping her hair. “Very demure, very mindful.”

Similar to the actual interview, the sketch played the wrong clip after Harris criticized Donald Trump for referring to his political opponents as “the enemy within.” (The real Baier later apologized for rolling the wrong footage during the interview.)

The sketch also mocked the Republican presidential nominee’s bizarre musical detour at a Pennsylvania town hall last weekend, with Rudolph’s Harris telling Baldwin’s Baier, “He can dance all he wants to ‘YMCA’ or to any other song he doesn’t realize is a gay anthem.”

Though Baldwin then tried to get Rudolph to bad-mouth Trump supporters, she wouldn’t budge.

“Are they morons? Slack-jaws? Stump-humpers? Cross-eyed meatheads?” Baldwin asked, prompting an exasperated Rudolph to respond, “You’re trying real hard to make me say something bad!”

Shortly after that, he told her, “You’re very sexy when you’re angry, you know that?”

“Yes, I do,” Rudolph’s Harris replied, causing the “SNL” audience to go wild.
