Grande and Erivo play Glinda and Elphaba in the forthcoming musical movie, which will be released in theaters in the US on Nov. 22.

After being pushed back due to COVID-19-related production delays, Wicked began shooting in December 2022. However, it then had to be halted due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, meaning that its imminent release has been a long time coming, to say the least.

Both Grande and Erivo have appeared visibly emotional numerous times during the Wicked press tour — so much so that it’s become somewhat of a running joke online.

Well, Grande and Erivo have now addressed the talk themselves.

In an interview clip shared by E! News over the weekend, Grande and Erivo can be seen holding each other on the verge of tears before stopping themselves from crying.

“We can’t,” Grande says. “We’ve cried 500 times today. And honestly, this is a PSA. So sorry, guys.”

Erivo then adds, “It is what it is… I mean, there’s nothing that we can do about it.”

“And you know what? If you’re just gonna comment saying how annoying it is, I’ll say it first,” Grande says before adding, “I’m annoyed, I’m tired. My tear ducts [are tired].”

Grande then reveals that she and Erivo had only just had a “private cry” together outside.

“We just had our own private cry in the parking lot,” she says, with Erivo going on to explain why the pair have been so emotional.

“We’ve come through a massive, massive thing, and we’ve really stuck together,” she says.

“Yeah, the stuff you don’t see is the most special stuff,” Grande adds.

Ironically, the pair then begin to tear up, prompting Grande to jokingly leave and declare, “It’s enough!”

Separately, to “Entertainment Tonight,” Grande explained further why she and Erivo have shed so many tears while promoting “Wicked.”

“You need to understand, it’s been, like, three years, people!” Ari said.

“Why does emotional availability scare you so?” she jokingly questioned, before reiterating with Cynthia that their tears are a result of “happiness” and “joy.”

Well, there you go! Wicked will be released in theaters later this month, on Nov. 22.
