Crash causes major traffic delays on westbound I-10 near Cabazon Sunday

Traffic on westbound Interstate 10 near Cabazon is backed up Sunday and officials are warning of delays of up to an hour.

A SigAlert was issued after a crash blocked the left lane near Apache Trail. Traffic was backed up to Tipton Road at about 2:30 p.m.

The crash was reported at about 10:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The backup comes at the front-end of a busy week for holiday travelers, when heavy car travel is anticipated.

Approximately 9 million Californians will travel by car over Thanksgiving, according to AAA Mountain West Group’s holiday forecast, an additional 1.3 million travelers compared to 2023.
