Amid concerns that Russia may launch an offensive against Moldova in 2023, Moldovan President Maia Sandu chaired a meeting of Moldova’s Supreme Security Council, local outlet Newsmaker reported on Dec. 19.
According to the outlet, the meeting analyzed risks to the national cyberse-curity system, as well as the need to improve legislation regarding it. The Moldovan presidential administration stated that the heads of relevant in-stitutions reported on measures taken to strengthen the state’s cyber de-fense capabilities.
“They also received recommendations on how to optimize cybersecurity processes, how to reorganize the system of monitoring and response to cyber attacks,” a statement published by the administration reads.
Earlier, head of the Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service, Alexandru Musteaţa, said that Russia could launch a new offensive against Moldova in early 2023.
According to him, the question is not whether Russia will invade Moldova, but when it can happen. According to him, Russia may take such a step in January-March next year.
