The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced Sunday morning they are conducting a death investigation after finding the body of a child in north Charlotte.
Channel 9 confirmed Tuesday through a police report that the victim was a 5-year-old girl.
It happened on Moretz Avenue, which is near North Graham Street.
CMPD said officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call just after midnight. Officers found a juvenile victim who had been shot, and MEDIC said they died at the scene.
Even though the investigation is in the early stages, CMPD said they are not looking for any suspects. The report did include any names.
